In this the camera is static and the cars go by. Be sure to go to here and click on the HD icon in the lower right. Looks pretty good to me.

New photos - ISO80 all the way to ISO1600
I just wish that one could see the full photos, or at least 100% crops. At the small size that they have it on the site, it's kind of pointless. This is IXY Digital 210 IS, i.e. the Japanese name for the SD 780 IS.
Here is the translated page, and here is the original one.

IXUS 100 IS video in low light?
Not that impressive, but here is a sample. By the way, IXUS100IS/SD780IS/IXY210IS are all the same camera, if you did not know.

UK release date - 20 march?
Amazon/UK says that the camera will be availible on March 20th, although I thought other vendors in the UK already have it in stock. I have not seen any US date. If you have, please let me know.
Seems like Jessops in UK has had it in stock for a while.

PC magazine review of the SD780 IS
Another short review of the SD780IS. Pretty good review and indicates that high ISO handling is much better (or controlled) that earlier small Canons. Also, the video seemed to get a nice review, with the exception that it is mono, not stereo, sound. No photo or video samples...
The full review is here.

IXUS100IS review on Cnet UK site
CNET UK posted a simple review of the IXUS 100 IS today. Not much for a review, but they pointed out that the zoom cannot be used during video. That was expected I think, but never-the-less dissappointing.
Only one full size sample. This one at ISO80 also, at "wide" showing the barrel distortion. Click on the image for the full size.

Yeah - Video example found for SD780IS
Check it out (don't forget to enable the "HD" in the lower right corner):
Yet some more samples found
Seems so confusing. In Japan (ASIA?) the SD780IS will be named IXY Digital 210 IS... Who figured? Anyway, with that info one can find more test photos already. I would apprecitate if you consider ordering this camera from Amazon (in the US) to use these links :) (Red SD780IS
, Silver SD780IS
, Black SD780IS
, Gold SD780IS
).
From Canon Japan (click here for direct link) we get these additional photos (all ISO 80):

Why they would not use exactly the same photos on the various Canon sites is beyond me. And, it seems like in Japan, the camera is available(?) because on Flikr there is at least one user with full size (3000x2000) photos. Check out "digitalbear"'s photos here.

More SD780IS (IXUS100IS) photos
I've found one site that offers more samples of the SD780IS camera (order yours here: Red SD780IS
, Silver SD780IS
, Black SD780IS
). On this site we score a ISO800 sample. It's a "macro" of a bike like chain. I have made a 100% crop here:

And here is a crop from the ISO 80 photo on that site:

I must say that I cannot help being impressed by both of these for such a small sensor in a very compact camera. The link to the site is here.
And the photos are here:
Maybe this is enough for you to also order it? I want 720p video samples, but have not been able to find any... yet...

Canon SD780IS (IXUS100IS) on the way

I've pre-ordered a new Canon SD780 IS from Amazon (order yours here: Red SD780IS
What I like about this is the IS, which is a necessity for nice videos, and the new HD (720p) video mode. As soon as I have the camera I will post a mini-review.
Meanwhile here is a collection of links to some sample photos.

Stock photography....
Well, I guess I am on the fence on this one. Many "professionals" seem to think that the new "microstock" agencies that has opened is really bad for the photographers, as the price is really too low to make a living off. But for a hobby photographer like my self, I thought why not try it and if I don't like it, or do not make any money of it, then what have a lost.
So about 3 years ago I signed up with iStock. When they were just starting they were pretty liberal with the photographer in accepting most submissions, but then also paying really low (think ~$0.10-$0.30 per download of your photos). But many did download my photos, so however small, there was some money coming in.
I am still not sure what happened, because when they redid their search system a year or two ago, suddenly my earnings dropped from ~$30/month to next to nothing.
I gave up...
After about two years, I decided to try again to submit more and improve the possible hits on the searches. But, now I found out just how ridiculous they had gotten in the "quality" control. Believe me, I have no objection that the photos should be of high quality. But when they reject photos taken with a Canon XSi (12Mpix, new DSLR) and a 24mm-105mm EF "L" lens, due to either noise (ISO 100/200) and/or chromatic abbreviation (that was not there in my mind) I was upset.
Sometimes I also tried to submit photos from lower end cameras (like Canon S3IS and S5IS), and even if I took them at ISO80 and also I thought were good stock photos, like this one:

They continued to reject for noise reasons. I am about to give up again. Any suggestions?
But, they do have tons of photos, and since I am right now an "exclusive photographer" I have a stack of business cards where there is 10 free credits ($14 value) if you are a new sign up. You get $14 for free, and in case you eventually put more money in, I would also get a referral credit... Email me if you like a code... and then go through this link.
You win, and I might win, and maybe even keep submitting...
